Floor Voids below Suspended Timber Floors in existing buildings and their impact on Indoor Environment has not been fully understood until recently. This frequently results in unrealistic expectations when it comes to retrofit design as well as to significant negative impact on Indoor Air Quality post-retrofit (with ventilation, in some cases, a contributing rather than mitigating factor). This CPD, based on the thorough Scientific Research, assesses the Floor Void Environment, it’s impact in the Indoor Air Quality and considers subjects such as Energy Efficiency, Occupant Comfort and Health, Moisture Risk, Damp and Mould, Ingress of Contaminants, Radon Gas, and other issues and how they are impacted on by the Floor Void and it’s interface with the house.
